Fill in missing alt text for all images

Paste into ChatGPT or ClaudeFind images missing alt text, captions or titles. View each image before writing short, accurate text, and fill only empty fields. Preserve existing text and leave decorative images’ alt text empty. Work in batches of 10. If you can’t view an image, skip it without guessing and continue. Report what you updated, skipped or couldn’t process.

What happens

Section titled “What happens”
  1. Your assistant finds images with empty fields, 10 at a time, with find_media_missing_text.
  2. It looks at each image with inspect_media: ChatGPT or Claude sees the picture itself, not just its file name.
  3. It fills only the empty fields with fill_media_text and checks they saved. Then it carries on with the next 10 until none are left.

Good to know

  • Some images can’t be previewed, for example very large or offloaded ones. Your assistant skips those and tells you, rather than guessing from the file name.
  • Text that’s already there is never replaced, and the image files stay unchanged.
  • This updates your media library. Alt text already written inside your posts stays as it is.
  • Your assistant uses its own vision, so no AI credits are used. Each search, each look at an image and each change is one website action; an image with nothing to fill costs nothing. At Standard, each change asks first.
