Teach it
A chatbot that only knows its AI model will guess about your business. Teach it, and it answers from your own words. You’ll find this under Answers › Knowledge.
Add what it should know
Section titled “Add what it should know”Select Add source and choose:
- Website: your published pages, posts and, with WooCommerce, products. Pick the content types under What should it learn from? and select Start learning.
- Q&A: one question and its answer. Start from common ones such as return policy, shipping or opening hours, and use Save and add another.
- Text: paste anything: opening hours, policies, prices.
- Files Pro: PDF, Word, TXT, Markdown, CSV or JSON.
The card shows how many sources are ready, still being processed, or failed. Manage sources lists everything it knows; filter by status or kind, search, or Remove from knowledge.
Search settings
Section titled “Search settings”Search settings decides how the chatbot uses what it knows.
- Answer from knowledge: on, it looks up your sources before answering. Off, it answers from the AI model only.
- How much it reads: how many matching pieces it reads per question: a little, more, or a lot.
- How close a match: how closely a piece must match the question: loose, normal or strict. Raise it if answers drift off topic; lower it if it says it doesn’t know too often.
- Use the page they’re on: the chatbot can also read the post, page or product the visitor is looking at. This works with or without knowledge.
Where knowledge is kept
Section titled “Where knowledge is kept”Where it’s stored chooses the place. The first time you add a source, AI Puffer picks one that suits your chatbot’s model, so most people never change it.
| Storage | Good to know |
|---|---|
| Built-in | Kept in your WordPress database. Needs an embedding model; AI Puffer Cloud provides one on credits. |
| OpenAI | OpenAI’s vector stores. Up to two per chatbot. |
| Google’s file search stores. For chatbots on a Google model. | |
| Pinecone, Qdrant, Chroma | Your own vector database. Connect it under Settings › Connections. |
If you change the Embedding model later, sources added with the old one can’t be found until you add them again.
For bigger collections shared between chatbots, use the Knowledge Base in the top bar.
