The Answers tab decides how your chatbot thinks: which model, who it is, and how it talks.

Select Change next to the model. The provider comes with the model.

  • AI Puffer Cloud models run on your AI credits. No API key is needed; connect Cloud under Settings › Connections.
  • With your own key you can use OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Azure, DeepSeek or xAI. Add keys under Settings › AI; the provider bills you directly.
  • Ollama, for models you run yourself, is Pro.

If the chosen provider has no key, the screen tells you.

Tell your chatbot who it is and how to help, in plain words. For example: “You help visitors of Oak & Linen choose furniture. Be brief and friendly. If you don’t know, say so and offer our email.”

Select Open larger editor for more room. There you can:

  • Start from a template: Friendly helper, Customer support, Sales assistant, Knowledge only or Bookings. A template replaces what you wrote; Undo brings it back.
  • Insert variables: [date] becomes today’s date, [username] the visitor’s username (empty for guests).

Below the instructions, Answer style › Change opens three choices about how it answers:

Setting Choices Starts at
Creativity Precise, Balanced, Creative, or a custom value Balanced
Answer length Short, Medium, Long, or custom Medium
Thinking Off up to Max, for models that think. Uses more credits. Off

And what it remembers:

  • Recent messages: how much of the conversation it keeps in mind: the last 5, 15 or 30 messages, or custom. It starts at 15.
  • Session memory (OpenAI and Google): the provider keeps the conversation between replies, so long chats send less each time.
  • Same provider each time (OpenRouter): keeps the chatbot on one provider for faster replies.
