Add a tax rate
Paste into ChatGPT or ClaudeOn my test store, create tax class “QA Tax” with one synthetic rate: country US, state CA, postcode 00000, city QA TEST, rate 7.5%, name “QA Synthetic Tax”, priority 1, non-compound, does not apply to shipping. Read the class, rate and location restrictions back. Do not enable taxes or assign the class to products.
Changes content or settings on your site. See the recipe below for approval requirements. Read only cannot make changes.
What happens
Section titled “What happens”- Your assistant checks the existing tax classes and creates the named class.
- It creates the rate in that class with the country, state, postcode, city, percentage and flags you supplied.
- It reads the class and rate back, including the geographic restrictions, and confirms the store’s tax-enable setting was left unchanged.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- The prompt uses synthetic test values. For a real store, get the appropriate rates and locations from your accountant or tax adviser; the assistant does not determine your tax obligations.
- The accepted test kept taxes disabled and assigned no products to the new class. It verified saved configuration, not checkout calculations, VAT rules or tax compliance.
- Class creation and rate creation are separate website actions. Tested on AI Puffer 2.5.14 and WooCommerce 11.2.1 in ChatGPT and Claude.
