Back up content and database
Paste into ChatGPT or ClaudeBefore I change my site, use UpdraftPlus to back up my WordPress database and configured content files locally, labelled Before site changes. Read current settings, preserve native exclusions, and request approval when required. Follow the returned job ID. Report native completion, the requested and represented components, local file presence, missing components and warnings. Do not proceed with any site changes unless the required backup coverage is confirmed; do not claim a tested restore or off-site copy.
Changes content or settings on your site. See the recipe below for approval requirements. Read only cannot make changes.
What happens
Section titled “What happens”- Your assistant reads settings and confirms the database-and-configured-content scope.
- It queues one backup with the applicable approval and keeps its job ID.
- It inspects native completion and actual local components before reporting whether the requested coverage is ready.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Requires AI Puffer 2.5.22 or later, UpdraftPlus 1.26.14 or later and WordPress 6.9 or later with the Abilities API. Single-site WordPress only. Tested scope is UpdraftPlus Free; available on all AI Puffer plans with normal website-action allowances.
- These backups stay on your server. They do not upload to remote storage, send a report email or prune earlier backups. The new set is kept for manual removal in UpdraftPlus. Local files consume disk space and do not replace off-site storage or a tested restore.
- Uses your configured plugins, themes, uploads, must-use plugins and other wp-content components, with native exclusions preserved. WordPress core, wp-config.php, additional databases and other server files are outside this scope.
- This recipe makes no subsequent site change. Restore testing and any later update remain separate tasks.
