On paid plans, your assistant edits a separate theme draft. Preview the draft before activating it. The previous theme is backed up so you can restore it.
How it keeps your site safe
- Only the draft changes. The live theme’s files are never rewritten. Activating a draft installs it as a new theme and keeps the original installed.
- Every file is checked before saving: PHP for syntax, JSON for format. Each change names the exact version it edits, so a newer edit is never overwritten.
- Preview first. You must preview the current draft version before activating it.
- Back up before activation. The original theme’s files and design settings are saved privately first. Rollback restores them, and refuses if the theme was switched or edited since.
- Only theme source files (PHP, CSS, JS, JSON, HTML, text) inside the draft. No plugins, uploads, settings or server files.
Good to know
- Open the preview while logged in. It runs the draft’s PHP, so check the result before activation; syntax checks cannot catch every error.
- The backup covers your theme’s files and design settings, not the whole site.
- One draft at a time. Archive an unfinished draft to start another, and resume it later.
- Your WordPress user needs permission to edit and switch themes, and your host must allow file changes.
PHP file outlines
On paid plans, ask your assistant to list the declarations and WordPress hook registrations in one PHP file of your AI Puffer theme draft. ai-puffer/theme-file-outline returns names, line numbers and the file’s hash. It reads up to 60 KB and returns at most 200 entries, without executing the file or changing the draft.
PHP only. For CSS, JavaScript or other source files, use the existing file read and search abilities. It cannot inspect arbitrary server files or another user’s draft. Each successful outline uses one website action and no AI credits.
