Advanced Custom Fields, from chat.
Inspect your field groups and update custom fields on posts: text, numbers, dates, links, selections, yes/no values and email.
Tested by us on 24 October 2026 with ACF 6.8.10, from ChatGPT and Claude.
Things to ask
- “Show my ACF field groups and where they apply.”Reads. Nothing changes.
- “Set the ticket_price field on my ACF Workshop post to 42.50.”Updates an existing number field.

Before you start
In ACF, open the field group and switch on Show in REST. Fields in groups without it aren’t included in the REST response.
Field-group inspection uses ACF’s separate native abilities. It requires ACF 6.8 or newer, WordPress 6.9 or newer, a developer to enable ACF’s AI feature, and Allow AI Access on each relevant group. REST field updates do not require this separate AI feature.
Limits
- In ACF 6.8.10, field-group inspection returns group settings with an empty field-definition list. It does not expose each field’s labels, types or choices. Read a post to inspect its existing field names and values.
- Images, repeaters, relationships and other field types have not been tested.
- Creating field groups, post types or taxonomies through ACF’s own abilities isn’t tested. Those abilities are off until a developer enables them in code.
- A select label can differ from its stored value. Use an existing stored choice when updating it.
