Dancer with MND returns to stage via digital avatar

A dancer with motor neurone disease has returned to the stage through a digital avatar. Breanna Olson said brainwave technology helped restore the expression and connection she felt had been lost.

The work allowed her to appear in a new form despite the effects of the illness. It used digital technology to create the avatar performance.

Motor neurone disease affects the nerves that control movement. The project gave Olson a way to take part in dance again, after feeling that part of the connection had gone.
